Product description
It rains continuously in Amsterdam and the water is high along the Amstel. A couple shares one raincoat and walks bent over the wet cobblestones, seen from behind. The coat becomes a shared shelter and the two seem to disappear into one silhouette. To the left, the elegant cast-iron railing along the water, to the right, the row of gabled houses. A tender street scene from Amsterdam in the early fifties, captured by a press photographer who had an eye for the small moment amidst the high water levels.
