An iconic floor light from the mid-twentieth century, designed by Joe Colombo for the Italian manufacturer Oluce. This is the 'Spider' model, a design that was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro prize in 1967 and is part of the permanent collections of various museums, including MoMA in New York. The lamp is made with a white lacquered metal base and an adjustable, also white lacquered shade, which can be slid along a chrome-plated metal rod. This construction allows the height and direction of the light to be adjusted as desired, making the lamp both functional and sculptural. The design is a prime example of the Space Age aesthetic of the 1960s. This piece is in good vintage condition, consistent with its age and use. The original structure and finish have been preserved, contributing to the authentic character of the piece. The lamp is functional and the adjustment mechanisms work properly.
