Product description
This high-quality fine art print brings the rich history of Hotel Estoril Sol to life. During World War II, the hotel was a refuge for European royalty, exiles, diplomats, and spies. The hotel was known as the “hotel of the Americans” and was then the largest of its kind in Portugal. It is speculated that the hotel provided inspiration for the James Bond novel “Casino Royale”.
Mario Novais, a prominent Portuguese photographer from the mid-20th century, known for his documentation of architecture and urban landscapes.
The Estoril-Sol Hotel opened in 1965 and was known for its modern architecture and prominent guests. In the 1970s, the hotel experienced its heyday, with visits from international celebrities and artists. The hotel was eventually closed and demolished, but remains an icon in the history of Cascais.
