An impressive and richly detailed late 19th-century Gründerzeit hall tree or hall stand, dating to approximately 1880–1900.
Crafted primarily from oak, the piece combines substantial architectural construction with contrasting wood veneers, geometric marquetry and finely executed decorative details characteristic of the Historicism and Gründerzeit period.
The monumental paneled back is centered by a tall mirror and fitted with numerous sculptural metal hooks for coats and hats. Decorative veneer panels feature striking geometric motifs, including contrasting stars and angular inlays that create visual interest throughout the composition.
The lower section combines beauty with considerable functionality. A central drawer provides convenient storage for smaller accessories, while the lockable cabinet below contains adjustable shelving. Curved metal umbrella and walking-stick holders flank the cabinet, complemented by shaped metal drip trays at the base.
The elaborate molded cornice, paneled oak construction, contrasting veneers and repeated marquetry motifs give the hall tree a strong architectural presence. At approximately 224 cm / 88.2 inches tall, it makes an impressive statement while remaining relatively shallow.
Carefully refurbished while preserving the authentic character, patina and minor traces of age expected from a piece more than a century old.
A sophisticated example of European late 19th-century entryway furniture, suitable for a grand entrance hall, foyer, dressing room, hotel, boutique or collector’s interior.
