Product description
BIA Floor Lamp by Gioia Meller Marcovicz for ClassiCon, Germany, 1994
A striking example of German postmodern lighting design, the BIA floor lamp was designed in 1994 by Gioia Meller Marcovicz for ClassiCon.
Defined by its sculptural composition and innovative approach to lighting, this remarkable floor lamp combines a slender metal frame with two gracefully curved, adjustable opaline glass shades.
The distinctive glass elements surround a central halogen light source and can be independently repositioned, creating different sculptural configurations and allowing the direction and diffusion of light to be adjusted.
The lamp’s carefully balanced composition brings together geometric minimalism and fluid organic forms, resulting in an architectural lighting object that functions equally as a source of illumination and a sculptural statement.
An integrated dimmer allows the light intensity to be adjusted to suit different environments and moods.
The BIA floor lamp represents the experimental character of 1990s European design, combining refined engineering, functional versatility, and an expressive visual identity.
Its distinctive silhouette makes it particularly suitable for contemporary interiors, architectural spaces, modernist residences, and sophisticated collections of late 20th-century design.
