Light blue and blue Murano glass vase, Bamboo Model, made by Nason in the 1980s. Ø 12 cm, H 40 cm. Carlo Nason, born in Murano in 1935 to one of the island's oldest glassmaking families, was a great master glassmaker. He grew up frequenting the master glassmakers working in the family furnace, appropriating the most refined techniques of glass art, demonstrating an innovative and design-oriented aptitude that he employed in the field of design, while remaining deeply rooted in tradition. In 1925, the Nason Moretti company was founded by the Nason brothers, specializing in the production of furnishing accessories and tableware. Here, the mastery of the most refined Murano techniques integrates with a modern vision and careful chromatic research. In 1955, Umberto Nason created an innovative project of two-tone bowls and glasses that earned him the Compasso d'Oro award. In the 1960s, with the family's second generation, the company experienced significant development, yet still maintained its characteristic commitment to experimentation. In the 1980s, the focus shifted to lighting with postmodern reinterpretations of designer lights, featuring the Carlo Moretti Studio line and collector's series of goblets and glasses. From the 1990s onwards, the company's activity concentrated on new collections conceived with a modern outlook and design-oriented. Carlo Moretti of Venice, founded by Carlo in Murano in 1958, passed to new ownership in 2013, but remains an important company today due to its constant engagement with design. The company is known for the beauty and elegance of Murano glass, reaching not only the tables of the most important households but also modern tables of today. Crafted with ancient and secret techniques, Nason Moretti glass pieces range from warm to cool tones, thanks to the wide palette of blended colors from which glasses, vases, and lamps are created. Throughout its history, the company had numerous collaborations with prestigious fashion brands such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino, and Tiffany & Co.
