This lamp was repurposed from a West German Pottery vase. The combination of vintage ceramic and a Pop Weave shade makes it a striking accent in any room.
The vase is from S. P. Gerz, a long-established ceramics manufacturer from the Westerwald region of Germany. In the second half of the 20th century, they produced numerous decorative studio ceramics with expressive glazes, stylistically belonging to the West German Pottery or Fat Lava era.
The vase features a vibrant, two-tone glaze in bright orange with darker to black lava and drip patterns. The expressive surface is typical of many ceramics from this period.
Dimensions of the vase: Height: 20 cm, Width: 15 cm, Depth: 10 cm
Total height of the lamp: approx. 45 cm
The vase, which has a base marking and collector's value, was carefully converted into a lamp using a firmly anchored yet removable plug-in solution. The lamp base is weighted for stability. The vase opening has been sealed with a high-quality brass cap, preserving the vase's collector's value. It features an E27 socket in black Bakelite, approved for up to 120 volts. A transparent cable leads directly into the socket from the back, eliminating the need to drill any holes in the vase. The lamp can be converted for cordless use upon request at the same price.
The lampshade: Diameter: 25 cm, Height: 25 cm, Material: Nylon band in vibrant orange and light turquoise, stretched around a frame.
The light is pleasantly softened by the fabric, creating a warm and atmospheric glow. The shade casts a beautiful striped pattern onto its surroundings.
This lamp is a unique piece, crafted from vintage ceramic and a handmade lampshade.
