Sculptural 1960s Space Age table lamp designed by S. Jindra for Lidokov in Czechoslovakia, combining bold color with the refined industrial detailing characteristic of postwar Czechoslovak lighting design.
The lamp features a vibrant orange lacquered metal body and circular base complemented by polished chrome-plated supports and hardware. Its distinctive cylindrical shade with ventilated rear housing is adjustable, allowing the direction of the light to be changed while creating a strong sculptural silhouette.
The contrast between the saturated orange lacquer and chrome elements gives the piece a distinctly Space Age and Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, making it equally suitable as a functional desk or reading lamp and as a collectible decorative object.
A striking example of 20th-century Czech lighting design, particularly well suited to Mid-Century Modern, Space Age, Postmodern and contemporary interiors.
The lamp has been carefully refurbished and repolished and fitted with new electrical wiring. Minor signs of use and age remain, consistent with its vintage character.
