Product description
Beautiful mirror, small dent on the top / back. This is also visible in the photo.
Made in the 60s/70s
With its light wood and slender silhouette, this large country mirror brings a soft, bright note to the home. The wooden frame emphasizes the glass and creates a sober room, easy to integrate into a hallway, bedroom or living room. Its generous height format allows the space to be visually enlarged while beautifully reflecting natural light. This mirror finds its place above a console, a dresser or simply against a wall for a refined atmosphere.
**Short story of the Louis Philippe mirror**
At that time, the mirrors of the great princes could be recognized by their cornices full of decorations. But during the reign of Louis Philippe, a bourgeois style developed, less concerned with originality than comfort. The Louis-Philippe mirrors then wanted to be more understated and sleek. Unlike mirrors from earlier eras, wood is no longer sculpted, but shaped and plastered with an adhesive primer. The top of the mirror frame is rounded, in the shape of a gendarme's hat. For decoration, beads or acanthus leaves at the bottom accentuate the cornice with a golden leaf gold effect that illuminates the whole. The large mirrors on the fireplaces provide light and perspective in the living areas.
