Product description
The Artifort Model 975 lounge chair, designed by Geoffrey Harcourt in the 1960s, represents a definitive moment in Space Age seating. This specific piece is distinguished by its striking multi-coloured wave-patterned upholstery, which perfectly encapsulates the bold aesthetic of the era. The chair has been re-imagined with nods to its original beginnings.
Constructed with a moulded plastic shell resting on a central swivel pedestal, the chair offers a fluid, organic silhouette. The seat and backrest are generously padded and finished with button-tufted textile upholstery in a dynamic palette of red, brown, beige, and grey. Produced in the Netherlands, this design reflects Harcourt's philosophy of accommodating the human form in any posture.
The chair remains in great vintage condition, preserving its structural integrity and visual impact. The original patterned fabric retains its vibrant colourway, while the base exhibits a gentle patina consistent with careful historical use.
This lounge chair serves as a compelling focal point in Mid-Century Modern or eclectic contemporary interiors. It pairs exceptionally well with minimalist side tables, allowing its expressive upholstery to command the space. this piece is functional and Decorative.
