About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Loetz iridescent green and silver crystal vase, made in the 1950s. Ø 11 cm, H 10 cm.
Loetz is a name that immediately evokes images of blown glass of extraordinary beauty and refinement. This Austrian glass factory, founded in 1839, produced some of Art Nouveau's most iconic works, becoming a benchmark for glass art internationally.
The history of Loetz is characterized by a continuous pursuit of perfection and constant innovation in glassmaking techniques. Loetz master glassmakers experimented with various techniques, including inlay, which involves embedding glass fragments within the molten glass mass. Their production is known for the iridescence of its works, a technique that imparts metallic and iridescent glassy reflections, creating visually stunning effects. Furthermore, the artifacts are created using the "Phänomen" technique, which involves applying metallic glass filaments to the surface of the glass, creating unique luminous effects.
The design of Loetz's works is characterized by sinuous lines, organic forms, and floral decorations, typical of the Art Nouveau style. The master glassmakers were inspired by nature, creating objects that almost seem to come to life. Loetz frequently collaborated with internationally renowned artists and designers, including Koloman Moser and Franz Welz.
