Product description
Iridescent green and silver Loetz crystal vase, made in the 1950s. Diameter 11 cm, height 10 cm.
Loetz is a name that immediately evokes images of blown glass of extraordinary beauty and refinement. This Austrian glassworks, founded in 1839, produced some of the most iconic works of Art Nouveau, becoming an international benchmark for glass art. Loetz's history is characterized by a continuous pursuit of perfection and constant innovation in glassmaking techniques. Loetz's master glassmakers experimented with various techniques, including intarsia, which involves embedding glass fragments within the molten glass mass. Their production is known for the iridescence of their works, a technique that imparts metallic and iridescent glassy reflections, creating highly suggestive visual effects. Furthermore, the artifacts are created using the "Phänomen" technique, which involves applying metallic glass filaments to the surface of the glass, creating unique luminous effects. The design of Loetz's works is characterized by sinuous lines, organic shapes, and floral decorations, typical of the Art Nouveau style. The master glassmakers drew inspiration from nature, creating objects that almost seem to come to life. Loetz often collaborated with internationally renowned artists and designers, including Koloman Moser and Franz Welz.
