Product description
Lalique frosted crystal sparrow-shaped paperweight, made in the 1950s. Some imperfections are present, as shown in the images. Further information available upon request. Ø 11 cm Ø 7 cm h 8.5 cm. Lalique crystal creations originated from the idea of René Lalique, a French jeweler and glassmaker. During his career, he collaborated with several important brands, such as Cartier and Boucheron, but his first true research into glass took place in 1890 when he created elements for jewelry, also studying enameling and engraving techniques. In 1921, he founded his glassworks in Alsace, which remains the only Lalique factory in the world to this day. In the mid-1920s, the advent of Art Deco marked the pinnacle of his career, which, thanks to his techniques, created a style expressed through the contrast between transparent and opaque glass. The crystals feature designs inspired by three themes dear to René: women, flora, and fauna. The company he founded continues a long tradition, still dealing today with jewelry, perfumes, interior decoration, and artistic glass creations. It is still today a symbolic expression of French luxury, for the splendor of its jewelry, the wonder of transparency, and the brilliance of its crystal.
