A charming and highly decorative Italian rattan and wicker lounge set from the 1950s, comprising four matching armchairs and a round two-tier occasional table.
The set showcases the expressive craftsmanship associated with mid-century Italian rattan furniture. Each armchair features a sculptural rounded silhouette with an enveloping woven back and arms, intricate braided edge detailing and gracefully curved rattan supports.
The matching round table complements the chairs beautifully, with a generously woven upper surface, circular lower shelf and four elegantly splayed legs. The extensive handwoven construction and decorative wrapping throughout demonstrate the considerable craftsmanship involved in producing the set.
The natural rattan has developed a warm honey-colored patina, giving the ensemble considerable visual character while retaining its original vintage appearance.
With its organic materials and relaxed Mediterranean character, this complete five-piece ensemble works beautifully in a conservatory, sunroom, covered terrace, garden room or sophisticated interior.
