Hand-painted Colonnata Ceramic centerpiece, made in the 1950s. The feet have some imperfections due to age, as shown in the pictures. Ø 34 cm, Ø 23 cm, height 13 cm. Colonnata Ceramics was one of the most important and long-lived factories in the Florentine ceramic landscape. Founded in Sesto Fiorentino, for decades it produced high-quality ceramic objects, characterized by elegant and refined design and decorations rich in artistic inspirations. Founded in the 19th century, Colonnata distinguished itself by producing ceramics and crockery for domestic use and for rustic and modern style furnishings. The company quickly achieved considerable success, thanks to the quality of its products and the skill of its artisans. In 1893, Colonnata received an important international recognition, a gold medal at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Colonnata's production ranged from everyday objects, such as plates and tableware, to more decorative pieces, such as vases and sculptures. The decorations on Colonnata ceramics were often made with an airbrush, a technique that allowed for nuanced and delicate effects. Colonnata produced ceramics in various styles, from Art Nouveau to modern, adapting to the tastes and trends of the era.
