Product description
This is the 'Patronen' lounge chair, designed by Gustav Axel Berg in Sweden during the 1940s. The piece is defined by its sweeping, continuous bentwood frame and distinctive woven textile seat, representing a key moment in early Scandinavian modernism.
The chair features a frame constructed from bent wood, likely birch or beech, which forms the sled base, armrests, and back support in a fluid, organic line. The seat and high backrest are formed from a woven canvas/jut webbing in a muted, multi-colour palette of beige and soft pink tones. The construction relies on the tension of the webbing across the wooden frame to provide ergonomic support, a hallmark of mid-century Swedish design.
The piece remains in good vintage condition, retaining its original character and structural integrity. The wooden frame shows a natural patina consistent with its age, while the woven webbing maintains its functional tension.
This lounge chair serves as a striking sculptural element in a living space or reading corner. Its organic form and tactile materials pair exceptionally well with both mid-century modern interiors and contemporary, minimalist environments.
