Product description
An elegant Austrian display sideboard from the 1930s, characterized by a refined Central European Art Deco style and spectacular, highly figured wood veneer.
The piece features a highly functional and sophisticated layout: the upper section has two sliding glass doors, ideal for displaying objects and ornaments.
The central section houses a drop-front compartment with an internal shelf, while the right side features a hinged-door compartment—complete with a mirrored back and glass base—offering an elegant setting for displaying glassware, bottles, or decorative items.
The lower section consists of two doors with an internal shelf, providing additional storage space.
A standout feature is the burl wood veneer, arranged with a meticulous play of mirrored and geometric grain patterns.
The burl design creates distinctive lozenge motifs and symmetrical shapes, perfectly in tune with the decorative aesthetic of Art Deco.
The structure is completed by shaped, rounded feet—typical of 1930s Austrian design—and rounded edges that soften the piece's rigorous geometry.
This is a particularly compelling piece in terms of aesthetics, functionality, and veneer quality; it fits seamlessly into both Art Deco interiors and contemporary settings seeking a significant vintage statement piece.
The unit has been polished and shows normal signs of wear consistent with age and use.
The lock on the base doors is decorative.
