This eighteenth-century Spanish colonial statue depicts a male figure with an expressive face and a detailed beard, likely Saint Paul. The sculpture is a striking example of the Estofado technique for religious or devotional art from this period, characterized by the rich, layered finish and the flowing drapery of the robe.
The statue is crafted from wood and features a polychrome and gilded finish, a technique typical of colonial sculpture.
