ProfessionalProduct description
We have approximately 40 of these cantilever chairs in various colors. Just ask.
The "Original Kovona Cantilever Chair Mart Stam, 1950s" tells a story – not only through its form, but through its presence. Produced in the 1950s by Kovona in the former Czechoslovakia, this model is based on a design by the Dutch architect Mart Stam, a pioneer of modern furniture design. The clean lines, the floating frame made of chrome-plated tubular steel, and the understated construction perfectly embody the Bauhaus ideal: functionality meets formal rigor.
What truly makes this Original Kovona Cantilever Chair Mart Stam, 1950s, special, however, is its striking presence. The seat and backrest glow in a vibrant, eye-catching red – a real statement piece in any room. We suspect that the striking color was painted over at some point during the decades – a design modification that doesn't detract from the chair, but rather gives it its own charming patina.
The overall condition is excellent: the wood is generally very good, and the chrome frame, in our opinion, is like new old stock on most of the chairs – in perfect condition (see also our other listing for cantilever chairs). The Bauhaus Kovona cantilever chair is not a mass-produced piece of furniture, but a unique item with character.
In this version, the original Kovona Mart Stam cantilever chair from the 1950s is not only a rare collector's item, but also a stylish addition to modern interiors – from designer apartments to creative workspaces.
