About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This coffee table is a notable example of 1970s Danish design, created by Ebbe Sørensen for the manufacturer H.M. Sofaborde. Its character is defined by the striking combination of a dark-stained wooden base and a graphic ceramic tile top, embodying the period's interest in mixed materials and artisanal finishes.
Crafted in Denmark, the table features a circular top composed of ceramic tiles arranged in a concentric pattern. The design uses a palette of beige, brown, and black to create a dynamic, spiral-like motif. This decorative surface is supported by a sculptural wooden base with four elegantly curved legs that converge at the center, providing both stability and visual interest.
The piece is in very good condition, consistent with its age and careful use. The ceramic tiles retain their glazed finish and the wooden structure is solid, showcasing the quality of Danish furniture production from this era. The label from H.M. Sofaborde is present, confirming its origin.
With its distinctive aesthetic, this coffee table serves as a functional centerpiece in a living room or seating area. It pairs well with interiors that favour Scandinavian, Mid-Century Modern, or eclectic design styles, adding a touch of vintage character and texture.
