Democratizing access to furniture is at the heart of her approach. Charlotte Perriand brought a new vision to furniture by eliminating all elements that seemed superfluous. Her various creations with Le Corbusier and Jeanneret are now legendary. Examples include the "Maison du Mexique" bookcase (1952), the "Cansado" enfilade (1958) and the Méribel chairs (1950s). Charlotte Perriand was born in France in 1903. She soon turned to the decorative arts and enrolled at UCAD. As soon as she finished her studies, she met Le Corbusier and Jeanneret, with whom she began a 10-year collaboration. They entrusted her with interior design assignments. Following a 6-year stay in Japan, she transformed her approach to design by integrating elements reminiscent of this simple, soothing spirit. The creation of the "Espace Zen" at UNESCO is a demonstration of this cultural heritage. With her passion for the mountains and the democratization of winter sports, she was entrusted with the design of high-mountain residences such as the resort of Les Arcs. She is regarded worldwide as one of the most influential designers of the 20th century.
