Liang Ie
His incredible work reflects his taste for purity and lightness. In the 1960s, the designer designed furniture for Schiphol airport, a true success story acclaimed by design enthusiasts and professionals alike. We owe him such legendary pieces of design as the famous Nuage coffee table for Artifort. Kho Liang Ie was born in Indonesia in 1927 to Chinese parents. In 1949, he flew to the Netherlands to study interior design at the Rietveld Academy. In 1958, he joined the prestigious publisher Artifort as a designer and aesthetic consultant. It was he himself who suggested to Pierre Paulin and Geoffroy Harcourt - two great designers - that they join Artifort.
