He is recognized worldwide as a talented designer for the precision of his creations. He has designed a wide variety of furniture and computer tools. His most famous creations include the legendary "Cab" chair (1977), the "La Basilica" and "Il Colonnato" tables, and lighting fixtures for Artemide. Mario Bellini was born in Milan in 1935, where he studied architecture at the Polytechnic. He began his career with the La Rinascente retail chain. He later became head of design at Olivetti, a brand for which he designed ergonomic calculators and keyboards. His work was appreciated by design professionals, and he received numerous awards. He also worked as a design consultant for Renault, and taught at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, the Domus Academy in Milan and the University of Genoa.
