Throughout his career, he has designed numerous pieces: desks, tables, enfilades, chairs... Most of his creations are in teak or rosewood. They are renowned for their great flexibility, allowing several functions to be performed at once. His most famous creation is the FM shelving system. Kristiansen was born in Denmark. He studied cabinetmaking, graduating in 1948. He then entered the Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He founded his own design studio, designing furniture for major Scandinavian manufacturers such as Fritz Hansen.
