A short while ago, we introduced you to the book "Chaises, 1000 chefs-d'oeuvre du design du XIXè siècle à nos jours Chaises, 1000 chefs-d'oeuvre du design du XIXè siècle à nos jours" written by Charlotte and Peter Fiell . Today, we invite you to discover a completely different book, also written by the two design furniture experts, this time devoted to Scandinavian design Scandinavian design . Verner Panton, Arne Jacobsen, Alvar Aalto, Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl... These great Scandinavian designers and their iconic creations regularly appear in magazines and websites devoted to interior design. How can we explain this timeless success? Quite simply by the fact that designers from the north have succeeded in creating a perfect marriage between the aestheticism of organic curves and the functionality of their furniture. The book "Scandinavian Design" by the Fiell couple, published by Taschen, is a reference work. Throughout its 700 pages, the authors give a precise account of the history of Scandinavian furniture, as well as the similarities and differences between furniture from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. This rigorous overview offers a comprehensive analysis of Nordic design, which emerged in the early 1920s. It allows us to understand the style and characteristics (shapes, curves, materials) of these pieces and how this new democratic approach to design revolutionised the industry. We recommend that anyone who loves Scandinavian design immerse themselves in this beautiful book!
