This is a lithograph by the Dutch artist Wim Jonkman, titled 'Acte de Balance'. The work depicts a theatrical and enigmatic scene characteristic of the artist's figurative style.The work typifies Jonkman's style, often described as a mysterious and cryptic expressionism. In this specific work, he combines different perspectives and forms that challenge the viewer to look beyond the first impression.It is printed with subtle chalk techniques and expressive structures, characteristic of his period when he drew much inspiration in Paris and France.The lithograph is printed on heavy 300-gram Magnani (Giotto) paper and measures 56 x 76 cm. The color palette is dominated by deep blue tones, which form a background for the multicolored, detailed costumes of the figures. The composition, with its dreamy atmosphere and symbolic elements, is a good example of Jonkman's narrative approach. The work was printed at his own Steendrukkerij Obelisk in Uithuizermeeden.The litho itself is in excellent condition, with bright and vibrant colors, and is protected behind glass. It has been professionally framed by Art gallery Douwes en Reerink (Amersfoort) in a beautiful heavy bronze-colored wooden frame with a white passe-partout, which accentuates the colors of the artwork. The frame shows slight signs of wear consistent with its age. See photos.Wim Jonkman (Winterswijk, 1947 – 2026) was a former lecturer in lithography at Academie Minerva in Groningen.This framed piece of Art is a striking addition to various interior styles, from classic to eclectic.
