This is a vintage pendant lamp by the Dutch manufacturer Dijkstra, a characteristic design from the Space Age era. The lamp stands out due to its layered construction and the use of contrasting materials, resulting in an atmospheric and decorative lighting object.
The construction consists of an outer dome of smoke-brown plexiglass, accented by a wide band of brushed aluminum. Inside is an orange lacquered metal diffuser which, when the lamp is lit, spreads a warm and inviting glow. This design is typical of the innovative approach to lighting in the 1970s, exploring new plastics and forms.
The overall condition of the lamp is very good, retaining its original parts and finish. The materials show a character consistent with age and careful use over the years, contributing to its authentic vintage look.
This Dijkstra pendant lamp is an excellent addition above a dining table, in a seating area, or as a focal point in a hallway. The design seamlessly fits into an interior with a preference for Mid-Century Modern, vintage, or eclectic styles.
There are a few cracks of 1-3 mm on the top of the dome, otherwise it is in neat vintage condition.
