About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This piece is a large antique wine press screw, a sculptural object carved from a single block of wood. Its powerful silhouette and monoxyl construction bear witness to artisanal craftsmanship and a past utilitarian function, now reinterpreted as a work of art.
Entirely made of solid wood, this screw features a rich texture and a deep patina acquired over time. The color is a natural brown, nuanced by decades of use and exposure. The helical shape of the thread, hand-carved, contrasts with the rougher, more massive base, creating a striking visual balance.
The general condition of the piece is good, in accordance with its age and history. The wood has developed a unique character, with imperfections that only add to its authenticity. It is not a new object, but a collector's item that proudly bears the marks of its past.
As a standalone sculpture, this wine press screw becomes a focal point in a rustic, industrial, or wabi-sabi interior. It can be placed on the floor in a living room, entrance, or library to bring a touch of history and raw materiality to the space.
