About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is an iconic Toekan table lamp, a playful and instantly recognizable design from the postmodern era. The lamp is famous for its zoomorphic shape, where the adjustable 'beak' functions as a lampshade, a feature that is both functional and aesthetic. The lamp is made of plastic and features a contrasting color scheme of black and cream-white. When the beak is opened, it reveals the light source and can be positioned to provide directed light. When closed, the lamp transforms into a sculptural object reminiscent of the bird it is named after. This design is a classic example of the 1980s design movement. The overall condition of the lamp is very good, retaining its original colors and structure. The plastic construction is intact, and the adjustable mechanism functions properly. The piece shows character consistent with its age, without significant signs of wear. This Toekan lamp is a charming addition to a desk, bedside table, or dresser. It fits perfectly within an eclectic, retro, or postmodern interior and serves as both a functional lighting element and a striking decorative accent. designed by H.T. Huang for Huangslite in the 1980s
