This is the Thebe dining table, a design by Hugo de Ruiter from 2005 for the Dutch brand Leolux. The design is characterized by the combination of natural and industrial materials, resulting in a sculptural yet functional dining table.
The oval tabletop is made of oiled American walnut wood, which accentuates its warm color and lively wood grain. The top rests on six chrome-plated columns anchored in a base of epoxy-coated aluminum. This base has a layered, topographical texture that creates an interesting visual contrast with the smooth wood and shiny chrome. The assembly manual is included with the table.
The table is in very good condition, consistent with careful use over the years. The original oil finish of the walnut top has been well preserved and shows the natural grain of the wood. The construction is solid and all parts are original.
With its generous oval shape, the Thebe table comfortably seats multiple people and is a central element in a dining room or open-plan kitchen. The piece fits well within a modern, minimalist, or Dutch Design interior.
