Product description
This is a ceramic teacup and saucer set by the Polish manufacturer Kolo. The set is defined by its bold, hand-painted abstract pattern, characteristic of mid-century European design.
Crafted from ceramic, both the cup and saucer feature a dynamic composition of black lines, reddish-orange brushwork, and blue accents on a creamy white base. The underside of each piece bears the green 'Kolo' factory mark, indicating its origin from the Zakłady Fajansu 'Koło' in Poland. This type of hand-decorated faience was popular in the post-war era. Design by Jan Sowiński.
The set remains in good vintage condition, presenting a cohesive aesthetic. The surface has developed a fine network of lines within the glaze, a natural characteristic of aged faience that contributes to its authentic character. The form and decoration are fully intact.
This teacup and saucer would serve as a distinctive piece within a tableware collection or as a decorative object in a display cabinet. Its graphic style complements Mid-Century Modern, Retro, or eclectic interior settings.
