Product description
This Magic Revelation table by Albert Ducrot, dating from the 1950s, is an emblematic convertible table of French Mid-Century furniture. Ingenious, it transforms from a coffee table to a true Dining tables thanks to its integrated mechanism. Its wooden veneer top, probably mahogany, features beautiful warm-toned grain and a glossy finish. It can also be unfolded to double its surface, allowing it to go from a compact format to a large table when entertaining. The lighter wooden base and its compass legs are characteristic of 1950s furniture. The transformation is almost absurdly simple. Simply lift one edge of the top, push the cast iron mechanism outwards to lock it, then repeat the operation on the other side: the table then rises to Dining tables height. All that remains is to pivot the top, open it in two, and place it on the cast iron frame to obtain a large surface. The table is in good general condition, although the veneer shows some slight traces of wear here and there. The mechanism is fully functional. Dimensions: Coffee table (LxWxH): 60 × 98 × 50 cm; Dining tables (LxWxH): 120 × 98 × 75 cm. A beautiful piece of mid-century engineering that still gives the impression of a little magic trick today.
