Product description
This is a chair crafted in the iconic style of Gerrit Rietveld, a masterpiece of geometric precision. The design is immediately recognizable by its Z-shaped, cantilevered silhouette, a revolutionary concept that challenged traditional notions of chair construction and became a milestone in design history.
The chair is made entirely of light-colored wood, with its natural grain and texture prominently featured. The construction is a testament to craftsmanship, with visible dovetail joints that not only provide strength but also add a decorative element. A cutout in the backrest serves as a handle, enhancing the functionality of this sculptural object. The design is deeply rooted in the principles of the De Stijl movement, where form is reduced to its most essential lines.
The overall condition of the chair is good, reflecting a life of use that adds character and authenticity. The wooden finish has developed a patina that tells the story of the object, while the structure remains solid and functional. It is a piece that gracefully bears the marks of time.
As a standalone object or as part of a dining set, this chair functions as both seating furniture and a work of art. It fits seamlessly into a modern, minimalist, or eclectic interior, adding an element of Dutch design heritage to any space.
