Product description
This is a characteristic table lamp from the Space Age era, produced by the Dutch manufacturer Willemse Verlichting, designed by Paul Secon - lighting with nylon thread - chromed metal lamp the design is a striking example of the fascination for geometry and new materials that characterized the eighties and nineties, resulting in an object that is both a light source and a sculpture.
The lamp has a chromed metal base and stand, which form a solid and reflective foundation. The spherical shade is constructed from a frame of transparent plexiglass over which a white plastic thread is stretched. This technique, often referred to as 'string art', creates a complex interplay of lines that casts a unique and atmospheric light pattern on the surroundings. The combination of cool chrome with the light, graphic thread work is typical of the Space Age aesthetic.
The overall condition of the lamp is very good, in accordance with its age. The chrome work and thread work are well preserved and the lamp is fully functional. It retains its original character and appearance, which contributes to the authenticity and collectible value of the piece.
This table lamp is a striking addition to an interior with a preference for Mid-Century Modern, retro or eclectic styles. The piece functions excellently as ambient lighting on a dresser, desk or bedside table and adds a touch of Dutch design history to the space.
