Rattan dessert trolley, Napoleon III
This is a woven rattan piece of furniture with a natural bamboo structure, featuring two basket-shaped trays (one high with a curved heart-shaped handle, one low as a shelf) connected by four tapered legs ending in curved "deer" feet. The weaving showcases a pattern of sky blue and white stripes, characteristic of fine French wickerwork production from the early 20th century (period , often referred to as "late Napoleon III" to "Art Deco" depending on the delicacy of the decoration).
