Pendant set consisting of two matching oil paintings on canvas signed by Fr. Hänel (Franz Hänel), who was a renowned German painter and illustrator of the late 19th / early 20th century. Shown are two full-body portraits of young women in detailed, traditional costumes against a rural backdrop. The period of creation was presumably early 20th century (approx. 1890 - 1930). Both paintings, with approximate dimensions of 26 x 52 cm, are in opulent Baroque-style frames with approximate dimensions of 41 x 68. Each picture bears an original nameplate with the engraving Fr. Hänel on the inner frame bar. The pictures are in very good condition commensurate with age, with a fine, authentic patina, and are stretched on their original wooden stretcher frames.
