About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
A pair of brass andirons, each featuring a sphinx figure. The figures are intricately designed with wings and rest on an elegant, sculpted base. Minor signs of wear.
Beautiful pair of antique Art Nouveau andirons made of brass with striking mythological griffin figures. These highly decorative fireplace accessories are characterized by elegant flowing lines, graceful curled pedestals, and winged griffins with expressive feline heads — typical of the Art Nouveau period.
The sculptural design combines organic forms with imaginative symbolism, giving the andirons an impressive decorative appearance both inside and outside the fireplace. The warm aged brass has developed a rich patina over the years, adding extra depth and character to the detailed castings.
The wrought iron back supports show traditional construction and authentic signs of age, while the front displays exceptionally decorative craftsmanship with strong architectural and mythological influences.
Perfect as functional fireplace accessories or as sculptural Decorative Objects
