About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is an authentic Art Déco sofa, manufactured around 1940. The piece of furniture combines an upholstered body with elegantly curved wooden armrests, a characteristic interplay of materials for the period. The design reflects the transition to a more streamlined aesthetic within the late Art Déco style, with a focus on comfort and solid construction.
The sofa is upholstered with a durable, woven textile fabric in a neutral beige color. The construction rests on robust, block-shaped wooden legs that complement the armrests. The armrests themselves are made of lacquered wood with a warm, dark finish that accentuates the wood grain. The neat piping and the panels in the seat and backrest attest to high-quality craftsmanship from the mid-20th century.
The overall condition of the sofa is very good, retaining its original structure and materials. The upholstery is taut and the filling is firm, indicating careful use over the years. The wooden frame and armrests show a light, authentic patina that contributes to the vintage character of the furniture.
This three-seater sofa functions excellently as a central element in a living room with a classic, eclectic or Parisian Style interior.
