This is a vintage Tropical typewriter, a design by the Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini for Olivetti. This specific example was produced in the 70s by Olivetti do Brasil, making it an interesting variant within the brand's production history. The design is characteristic of Bellini's work for Olivetti, combining functionality with a sculptural, modernist aesthetic.
The typewriter's casing is made of plastic and metal, executed in a two-tone scheme of light grey and dark grey, almost black. The black keys and the single red function key provide a subtle visual contrast. This model, produced in Brazil, demonstrates Olivetti's global influence and production capacity during the second half of the twentieth century. The mechanism and type arms are made of metal, designed for durability and precision.
The overall appearance of the typewriter is in good condition, consistent with its age and use. The object has an authentic character and shows the traces of its history, contributing to its vintage charm. The mechanical parts appear intact, indicating the solid construction for which Olivetti was known.
As a Decorative Object, this Tropical typewriter adds a touch of Mid Century Modern and industrial design to an interior. It is an excellent piece for a desk, a shelf, or a bookcase, serving as a tangible reminder of the analog era of design and communication.
When shipped, the item will be carefully packed to prevent damage.
