Product description
This is a distinctive illuminated wall mirror by Pan Keramik, dating from the 1970s. The piece is a characteristic example of West German pottery from the Mid-Century period, combining the function of a mirror with that of an atmospheric wall light. Its sculptural form and textured glaze make it a notable decorative object.
The mirror features a substantial ceramic frame with a high-gloss brown border that accentuates its scalloped, organic silhouette. The main body of the frame is finished in a beige and brown 'fat lava' style glaze, which creates a rich, crackled texture that catches the light. The central mirror is an oval shape, and the entire piece is designed to be wall-mounted. The integrated lighting element is concealed behind the mirror, designed to cast a soft, ambient glow around the frame.
As both a functional mirror and a source of ambient light, this Pan Keramik piece is well-suited for an entryway, living room, or bedroom. It would integrate seamlessly into interiors with a Mid-Century Modern, eclectic, or Bohemian aesthetic, adding a touch of authentic 1970s design.
Condition: Good; shows localized patina. The ceramic elements are undamaged and in lovely condition. The mirror
shows localized patina and a slight scratch near the bottom (see photos).
It has been refreshed while retaining its original state. It has a wonderful, atmospheric look.
