Product description
A custom-made, distinctive and exceptionally large dining table made from African limba/fraké wood (Terminalia superba), also known as Akom and sometimes referred to as African oak. The table is approximately 30 years old and was originally brought from Africa to the Netherlands by shipping container. We are selling it due to an upcoming move.
The tabletop has a beautiful warm, light yellow-brown colour with a lively and natural grain. Limba is a tropical hardwood species native to West and Central Africa. It is relatively lightweight and easy to work with, and has traditionally been used for furniture, interior joinery and veneer.
Despite its substantial size, the table is surprisingly light for a solid wooden table of almost three metres in length. The four sturdy legs can also be easily removed, making transportation considerably easier.
The table has been used over the years and therefore has an attractive, lived-in vintage character. The tabletop shows normal signs of use, small discolourations and imperfections consistent with its age and history. Please see the photos for details.
