This is the art book "L'Afrique Périphérique" by Dutch artist Rolf Weijburg. The work functions as an artistic atlas mapping the islands around the African continent, distinguished by its unique combination of detailed color etchings and descriptive texts.
"L'Afrique Périphérique" is a collection of Weijburg's characteristic etchings, capturing the landscapes, culture, and history of various islands. Each image is accompanied by a Dutch text providing context and personal observations. The illustrations are rich in detail and show Weijburg's fascination with cartography and the visual language of documents such as stamps and banknotes, which he incorporates into his compositions. The book is a softcover edition.
The book is in excellent, as-new condition. The cover is intact, and the pages are clean and undamaged, without folds or markings. The colors of the printed etchings are bright and vibrant, emphasizing the quality of the reproductions. It is a complete copy that has fully retained its original character.
This book is an asset to any collection of art books, travel stories, or geographical works. It serves as both a source of artistic inspiration and a fascinating reading object, ideal for the coffee table or a personal library.
