About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a large, ceramic krater vase, executed in a classical style. Its most striking feature is the detailed, narrative frieze that adorns the center of the vase, depicting a hunting scene. The vase is made of ceramic and finished with a two-tone glaze. The main body has a deep brown, glossy finish with a craquelure effect, while the high-relief frieze and the scroll-shaped handles are executed in a contrasting, cream-colored hue. The classic krater shape is accentuated by the flared neck and the pedestal base. The overall condition of the vase is good, consistent with its age and use. The craquelure in the brown glaze is a consistent feature of the surface and contributes to the character of the object. The cream-colored relief decoration is intact and shows the details of the figurative scene. There is a small repair to the foot. With its imposing size and classic appearance, this floor vase is a striking decorative element. The piece fits well into an interior with classical, eclectic, or rural influences, where it can serve as an autonomous object or filled with large, dry decorations.
