Product description
Jochem op ten Noort is an Amsterdam-based artist whose paintings emerge from his travel photographs, using landscapes from Southern Europe, Central and South America as inspiration. His art not only represents the landscape but also attempts to capture the essence and texture of the earth, through reformulation of elemental meanings. His artistic process involves systematically extracting and filtering photographs, removing unnecessary details and adjusting colors and patterns to create new angles. This creates an abstract space without traditional tangible features. With a systematic approach he investigates the boundary between abstraction and realism and strives for a fusion between formal and informal elements. Since graduating from the Utrecht University of the Arts in 2002, he has exhibited his work in both solo and group exhibitions and has gained recognition through the acquisition of his artworks by corporate collections and private collectors.
