Product description
This is a set of two Japanese Satsuma-style teapots, crafted from ceramic. The set is a striking example of Dragonware, a style characterized by the three-dimensional dragon motif that wraps around the objects.
The teapots are executed in a rich red-orange color palette with a mottled finish. Each pot is decorated with a detailed dragon, whose head forms the spout and body forms the handle and lid knob. The decoration is refined with the moriage technique, where raised enamel dots are applied, and is finished with golden accents that emphasize the dragon's scales and contours. The inside of the pots is made of white glazed porcelain.
The overall condition of the set is good and consistent with its age, retaining its characteristic appearance. The original lids are present, making the set complete. The underside of one of the pots features a maker's mark, indicating its origin as Japanese export ceramic.
This decorative set is a striking addition to a collection of Asian ceramics or can serve as a unique decorative element in an interior with a classic or eclectic style. The pots are suitable as an eye-catcher on a dresser, in a display cabinet, or as part of a table presentation.
