Product description
A lovely botanical print dedicated to the black hellebore, the Christmas rose. The drawing is printed and then enhanced by hand with watercolour: white petals with pinkish reflections, yellow stamens, jagged leaves of a vibrant green, and stems and buds speckled with small orange dots.
The subject stands out in a round window, highlighted by a golden border, on a deep green mount. The Latin name of the plant is inscribed at the bottom left, and the print is signed "J.C." and dated 1966 at the bottom right.
It is presented under glass in a fine golden frame, with a hanging cord. On the back, there is a period label from the London antique dealer Margaret Steven (Barnes, London SW13), specialising in old engravings, pottery, and porcelain.
Its small square format will find a place in an entrance, kitchen, hallway, or a wall of frames. It complements both a classic interior and a natural, vintage, or "cottage" decor.
