Product description
Unique Gouda pottery basket / candy dish with turquoise craquelure – hand-painted – model 355 – Joop – Gouda Holland
Beautiful and atmospheric Gouda pottery basket from the mid-20th century.
The dish has an elegant, slightly curved shape with a scalloped edge and a matching foot. The exterior features a beautiful turquoise/celadon green craquelure glaze with characteristic brownish veins. Inside, it is hand-painted with a cheerful floral decoration: a pink flower, a yellow flower, green leaves, turquoise dots, and fine golden accents.
The original twisted metal handle (with a beautiful patina) is still present and movable.
Features:
Model number: 355
Signed: Joop – Gouda – Holland (handwritten mark on the bottom)
Height (without handle): approx. 5 cm
Diameter: 15.5 cm
Weight: 280 grams
This is a typical Gouda product from the post-World War II period. The painting is probably by the pottery painter Joop de Jong, who worked for Regina in Gouda, among others, at that time.
Condition:
In good vintage condition. Normal signs of wear and slight discoloration on the unglazed foot rim. No cracks, chips, or repairs visible. The glaze and painting are well preserved.
A nice and decorative piece of Dutch pottery, ideal as a candy dish, trinket tray, or atmospheric object in a vintage interior.
