This pair of Noce table lamps was designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos in 1972. The model is an icon of Italian design, conceived as a robust and versatile floor or table lamp, so much so that it was nicknamed "the tank" for its solidity. The lamp is made with a die-cast aluminum alloy body, painted white, and a transparent pressed glass diffuser. A distinctive feature of Castiglioni's design is the diffuser with two different surface finishes on opposite sides, one with vertical ribs and the other with rhombuses, which allows the light effect to be varied simply by rotating it. The light produced is diffused and atmospheric, ideal for creating a cozy light point. The lamps are in good vintage condition, with the original and working electrical system. The structure is solid and the glass is intact. The painted finish shows some signs of age, which contribute to the authentic character of these historic pieces. The design is an example of Castiglioni's philosophy, which combines functionality, material innovation, and a sculptural form. Thanks to their low shape and directional light, these Noce lamps are perfect as accent lights on a coffee table, a sideboard, or even directly on the floor.
