About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
This flat desk embodies the elegance and authority of the French Empire style. Made of solid mahogany, it features a symmetrical and imposing silhouette, characteristic of early 19th-century furniture. Its refined design is highlighted by a robust structure and classic decorative details, making it a centerpiece for a distinguished workspace. The desk is crafted from mahogany wood, with a finish that accentuates its rich grain and warm hue. The top is adorned with a black leather writing surface, framed by the wood. It offers functional storage space thanks to its five front drawers, including a wider central drawer. The base is formed by two bridge- or gondola-shaped legs, connected by a stretcher, and enhanced with brass ornaments on the cylindrical uprights. This piece has been preserved in good general condition, testifying to its history and use over time. The natural patina of the wood gives the desk an authentic character and historical depth. The original locks and handles, although showing signs of age, contribute to its period charm. Ideal for a home office, a library, or a professional study, this flat desk integrates perfectly into classic or eclectic interiors. It brings a touch of sophistication and prestige, pairing well with dark wood bookcases and leather armchairs.
