About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
An elegant Biedermeier sofa dating from the mid-19th century, circa 1850, most likely of French origin. This exceptional piece is distinguished by its refined silhouette, harmonious proportions, and beautifully figured walnut veneer.
The distinctive flowing backrest, gracefully curved armrests, and carefully selected walnut veneer highlight the remarkable craftsmanship and quality of 19th-century furniture making.
The sofa has undergone a comprehensive professional restoration, preserving traditional woodworking and upholstery techniques. All wooden elements have been meticulously restored and hand-finished with authentic French shellac polish, enhancing the depth, richness, and natural beauty of the walnut grain.
The upholstery has been completely reconstructed using traditional methods, including new springs and natural seagrass fillings. Every stage of the work has been carried out according to time-honored upholstery techniques, reflecting the highest standards of traditional craftsmanship.
The elegant black striped fabric creates a sophisticated contrast with the warm tones of the walnut, emphasizing the sofa's timeless character.
Presented in excellent, fully restored condition, this remarkable sofa combines the authenticity of a 19th-century antique with the exceptional quality of traditional craftsmanship.
